Beach Colour Run Raises £44,000 – Case Study

A Beach Colour Run That Brought a Community Together

Family Nursing & Home Care annual Colour Festival fundraiser returned to Jersey’s beautiful West Park Beach, bringing together around 1,500 runners, volunteers, sponsors and supporters for one of the island’s largest charity colour run events.

Despite the cloudy weather, participants embraced the vibrant atmosphere, running through colourful powder stations across the beach while raising an incredible £44,000 to support the charity’s vital services – making it the most successful Colour Festival in the organisation’s history.

Ministry of Colours supplied the colour powder used throughout the event. If you’re considering organising your own colour run, read our Colour Run Fundraising Guide.

A Signature Fundraising Event

The Colour Festival has become one of Family Nursing & Home Care’s most anticipated annual events.

Kalina from Family Nursing & Home Care explained:

“The Colour Festival has been a signature event for FNHC for many years and has grown to become our largest annual fundraiser. We receive enquiries throughout the year from people eager to hear when the next event will take place, which is always a great sign of its impact and reach.”

Each year, the charity aims to build on the success of previous events and continue growing both participation and fundraising income.

“This year was no exception, with the event raising an incredible £44,000 to support our services — a record achievement that we’re extremely proud of.”

A Colourful Experience for Everyone

From vibrant clouds of powder drifting across the shoreline to shimmering silver and gold colour stations, the event created an unforgettable experience for participants of all ages.

The atmosphere throughout the day was electric, with volunteers, sponsors and runners all contributing to the fun.

“There’s a real sense of energy and excitement, with everyone embracing the opportunity to have fun, let loose, and get completely covered in colour. It creates a truly memorable experience for all involved.”

Even a few four-legged participants joined the celebrations, helping to create a family-friendly event that appealed to the entire community.

Why Colour Runs Work So Well for Fundraising

While traditional fundraising events remain popular, colour runs offer something genuinely different.

“A colour run stands out because it offers a rare opportunity to get covered in colour and enjoy a unique shared experience while supporting a great cause.”

For Family Nursing & Home Care, the event also reflects the charity’s wider mission by encouraging people to be active, spend time outdoors and connect with others.

“The event encourages people to be active, get outdoors and enjoy fresh air, all while coming together as a community. It’s a wonderful combination of fun, wellbeing and fundraising.”

Events that encourage physical activity and community engagement can deliver significant wellbeing benefits, as highlighted by the NHS Better Health programme.

Advice for Other Charities Considering a Colour Run

After years of success, Family Nursing & Home Care strongly recommends colour runs to other charities and community organisations.

“I would definitely encourage other charities or organisations to consider hosting a colour run, particularly if there isn’t a similar event in their area. It offers a unique and engaging experience that really captures people’s interest and brings communities together.”

The charity now attracts approximately 1,500 runners every year, generating significant fundraising income while increasing awareness of its services throughout the local community.

“It’s a fantastic way to reach new supporters, create a memorable event and build long-term engagement, so we would highly recommend it.”
